What did Donald Trump do today?
He kept a promise to stop attacking the FBI, for about 14 hours.
Trump's morning "executive time" for Twitter started bright and early this morning, and included three furious tweets aimed at the fact that the government is investigating the Russian sabotage of the 2016 election.
Trump's morning "executive time" for Twitter started bright and early this morning, and included three furious tweets aimed at the fact that the government is investigating the Russian sabotage of the 2016 election.
These were quickly followed by a fourth tweet, jarring for its use of the word "sorry," which Trump rarely uses even sarcastically.
Sorry, I’ve got to start focusing my energy on North Korea Nuclear, bad Trade Deals, VA Choice, the Economy, rebuilding the Military, and so much more, and not on the Rigged Russia Witch Hunt that should be investigating Clinton/Russia/FBI/Justice/Obama/Comey/Lynch etc.— Donald J. But rather than do those things, Trump flew to Nashville for a campaign rally. From the podium, he complained to the crowd about the fact that the FBI had learned from an informant of Russian overtures to members of his campaign team (one of whom has since pleaded guilty to lying about it to investigators).
Why is this a bad thing?
- Innocent people, to say nothing of presidents, don't usually spend this much time attacking the rule of law.
- Nobody really believes that Trump is going to stop "focusing" on this.
