What did Donald Trump do today?
He got confused about how cause and effect work.
This morning, still on the defensive over the mounting effects of his new import taxes, Trump lashed out again at Harley-Davidson.
Now that Harley-Davidson is moving part of its operation out of the U.S., my Administration is working with other Motor Cycle companies who want to move into the U.S. Harley customers are not happy with their move - sales are down 7% in 2017. The U.S. is where the Action is!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 3, 2018
Trump has ignored plenty of laws since becoming president, but this may be the first time he's tried to violate the laws of time. If Harley sales were down in 2017, it could not be because of something the company announced in June of 2018.
However, as Trump himself reminded everyone recently, there was at least one substantial political action in February of 2017 that might have turned off potential Harley-Davidson buyers: their executives took a meeting with Trump and publicly praised him for the cameras afterward.

Why is this bad?
- If this was Trump getting confused, then he gets confused awfully easily.
- If this was Trump trying to fool American voters, he doesn't think much of their intelligence.
- A president should not attack American companies for trying to mitigate the damage caused by his own policies.
